Wedding in the valley

Today is a special day at Eden Valley Wellness Institute. As I drive off campus, I will pass regal white tenting, festively decorated trees and later there will be many people scurrying about the grounds in preparation. Today there is a wedding. I don’t know what it is about me, but everywhere I go, someone is getting married! As I Iove weddings, (and can’t help but insert myself) I have become friendly with the bride who is the director of the wellness center.

It turns out that my obsession with skincare has come in handy. A week before the wedding, the bride asked me about ways to home prep her skin for her special day.

Cucumber mask for inflamed skin

A blend of cucumber with oatmeal addresses inflammation and sensitivity, while yogurt containing lactic acid is gently exfoliating. Sage helps naturally remove dead skin cells while providing vitamin A.

  • 2 tablespoons plain, sugar-free yogurt

  • 2 tablespoons pureed cucumber

  • 2 tablespoons oatmeal

  • 1 teaspoon chopped sage

Combine the yogurt, pureed cucumber, oatmeal, and sage into a small bowl. Apply with a facial brush or fingers, leave on for 10–15 minutes, and then rinse well with warm water.
