Decluttering and organizing with Home of Serenity

Along with copious amounts of baking and Zoom meetings, another hallmark of COVID has been organizing and decluttering. Using the same spaces at home constantly has made me step back and take a hard look at how I can get more out of where I live. Confession: I have a situation called my kitchen cabinets. The herbs, essences, the dried goods, the multiple jars of mustard powder… I need a cold compress and an aspirin just writing this. I am, however, obsessed with THE IDEA of having pristinely organized spaces everywhere! Yet… I’m a failure.

Collectively, this nearly morbid fascination with organization didn’t start with COVID. Marie Kondo made a huge splash, pre-COVID, with her book: The Magic of Tidying Up followed by her (perfectly timed and highly addictive) Netflix show. Going back through our organization obsession further, the term “pantry porn” was coined when the first star of the Hadid supermodel family, Yolanda Hadid’s (nee Foster’s) fridge made its TV debut.

Aside: If you haven’t seen the glass enclosed glory of that fridge then, by all means, check out its beautifully arranged pristine rows of Fiji water and wicker baskets of vibrant and blemish free produce on Instagram (yep). It has it’s own Insta.

Back to real life, organizing your own stuff can be daunting. I mean it’s your stuff right? You want it organized. But sometimes looking at it all can be enough to locate your nearest fainting couch. Living well means having operational spaces that make whereever you are relaxing, welcoming and beautiful. Before calling up Alhanood, here are few Live Well Food Co. tips to get you on your way.

Maximize tight kitchen spaces : When it comes to kitchens, storage is key. If you're short on space and don't have a kitchen renovation on your calendar anytime soon, it's time to rethink your current set-up. Brilliant organizing solutions as suggested by Alhanoof and Home of Serenity can help you make the most of the space you have and save time (and stress) trying to find the items you need from day-to-day.

Functional and beautiful pantry : Enlist the help of Khobar - based organizing company Home of Serenity to bring order to your pantry. Non-perishable items like rice, beans, cereal, and baking staples can be removed from their original packaging and placed in clear jars and containers. Snacks, soups, and other go-to ingredients that you use regularly need to be within reach and can be stored in adorable wicker baskets, complete with handwritten chalk labels (talk about pantry porn).

Under the bed storage : If you're short on bedroom storage, then take a look at what you already have: free space under your bed (ahem! There should be free space under your bed). Under-bed storage is a practical way to use what you already have to store your day-to-day essentials. Think through creative under-bed storage ideas with Alhanoof until you find a solution that best matches your needs like storage for your off-season clothing.
